"You know what's wrong with the church-world today? The church-world today is not serving God, that's why the things are missing in the church. You know, they've substituted prayer and fasting with a ball game. Ball games in the church. Of all the foolish things that a man could do, put a ball game in the church, get a ball team out of the church. The Bible says, "Love not the world neither the things that are in the world, for all that is of the world is the pride of life and the lust of the flesh." "And the world and the lusts thereof," Jesus said, "passeth away, but He that doeth the will of God abideth forever." And here we turned the church into a ball team."
"The Bible said, "He that cometh after me, let him deny the flesh, let him deny himself, let him mortify the deeds of the flesh." The Bible said to come out from among the world, and not to have the love of the world in you. For if the love of the things of the world is in you, then the love of the things of God is not there. Darkness will not mix with light. So then if you want to be a prominent person in the world, if you want to be a celebrity in the world, you want to be some dignitary in the world, you want to be some entertainer in the world, you want to have some place in the world, you want them to look at your flesh. You want your flesh to be exuberant and protruding, you want 'em to see you, then that means that's of the devil. That means that's Satan who savors the things that be of the flesh, he's in this world. He is the prince of this world. But when you begin to say, "Just put the nails in my hands, put the thorns on my head, put the nails in my feet, run the spear in my side. Make my vesture to look like that that's dipped in blood. I want to be like Jesus."'
